Is there a particular reason why there is no homey app for the set of Bosch SmartHome devices? Bosch has quite a broad set of devices. I don‘t have any of them, but if they were supported by homey I would definitely consider them.
Examples:
I guess they mainly use zwave but they seem to be ready for matter as well.
Any reason why they have not been implemented yet?
The most logical reason would be that no one with these devices has the skills to create an app, and/or no one with the skills to create an app has these devices.
Hi there, I just received my Homey Pro and thought I could easily integrate the 45 devices (thermostats, sensors, smart plugs, etc.) from Bosch that are connected to the Bosch Controller Gen1. To my surprise, there is no third party application support at the moment which is a huge bummer. Is there something in the pipeline or can it somehow be put on the feature wish list?
Hi Rainer, thanks for the quick reply and proposed workaround. Yes, I indeed forgot to do the compatibility check for Bosch since I was sure this would work All I checked was the devices that previously wouldn’t work with my current homekit setup. Let’s see if I can get the home assistant solution working. Thanks again! Fritz
AFAIK it is not Homey to manage valves - it is the Room termostat to turn them on/off based on the temperature in the room (and let the hot water from the gas boiler flow into the floor heating tube)
The thermostat implementation for Matter is fairly basic (at least on Homey, I don’t know if the Matter specification is more elaborate): you can basically set thermostat mode (heat/cool/auto) and target temperature (for the room the thermostat is located it, I assume).
If that’s enough for what you want to do, there’s a good chance it’ll work, although you have to be aware that Homey seems to have issues with maintaining connections with Matter devices.
Hi,
I am using it via Matter and I can confirm that "Raumthermostat II, Raumthermosthat II 230v and Heizköperthermostat II are working via Matter and Homey. You are getting 2 devices: 1) Room climate control to set the temperatur and Thermostat to read the temperature. It is working with “Homey Heizungsmanager”. You can control the temperature but you cannot switch between Cooling and Heating via Homey. I am doing this between Summer/Winter-period in Bosch Smart Home Manager twice a year.
I really wanted to try this out so I now got 1 Smart Controller II and 1 Raumthermostat II (battery version). I managed to add the thermostat to the controller but I cannot add the controller to Homey as a Matter Bridge.
I have made a ticket at the Bosch support but that was quite many days ago now so I guess they do not want to help out…
I have activated Matter in the Bosch Controller but when I try to read out the Matter connection code (which I guess I need to connect the controller to Homey?), I just get an error message saying “Code could not be retrieved. Try again.”
And I have tried a thousand times now.
I have reset the Bosch Controller a number of times but nothing seems to work.
I have the latest SW in the controller.
Does anyone have a clue? What have I misunderstood or done wrong?
My guess is that I need the Matter connection code from the Bosch Smart bridge but how to I get it?
I’ve tried to get a code from within the Bosch Smart Home App but it just returns an error message… How did you do?
Just tried again, getting a matter code works for me from the smart phone app. That is exactly the process… you need to fix this, maybe by resetting your Bosch Smart Home…
But I cannot get the Bosch devices which were all connected to Homey since last year reconnected via Matter. I get the code, the paring mode start, showing adding devices and then throwing an erro 0x0704 which we had in earlier releases and which was fixed last year.
Great! Thanks a lot @Alexander_Adam, then I know I my guessing about the connection process is correct!
But I’m sorry to hear you are having further connection problems with the bosch devices.
I have to return the bosch devices I bought in a few days if I cannot get i to work and it does not look promising.
I got an update for the Bosch controller today but that did nothing regarding the problem I have just connecting the Controller to Homey unfortunately…
Thanks again for reaching out! I hope Bosch manage to fix this very very quick!
(And BTW, still no coming back from the Bosch support yet.)
For the problem I have (0x0704 error) when connecting, I currently believe that Homey has introduced this in one of the latest Matter updates. Seems like the same problem existed already a year ago. Waiting for the next Homey release. Thanks god, it is summer now.
